Yori's Story
From the moment he arrived, Yori Tsunoda lit up every room. At just three years old, his laughter was contagious, his curiosity boundless, and his love for puzzles and airplanes absolutely unwavering. He was the kind of brother who made his siblings burst into giggles with his endless energy, bright spirit, and warm heart.

In the summer of 2018, Yori slipped quietly underwater at a friend’s house. Despite immediate efforts to save him, the oxygen deprivation caused irreversible brain injury. Two weeks later, on September 1st, 2018, Yori passed away and his organs were donated. The world lost a spark that day, yet out of unimaginable grief came a lasting purpose.
In honor of Yori, No More Under was born. Today, hundreds of children receive swim lessons each year, guided by the belief that every child deserves water safety and survival skills. The movement continues to grow, bringing life-saving education to communities and advocacy for equitable access across Washington and beyond.

Yori's memory also lives on in the award-winning documentary Drowning in Silence, where his story opens hearts and deepens understanding around the importance of water safety. The film reaches beyond awareness and invites action.
Through swim lessons, advocacy, and storytelling, Yori’s legacy shines brightly. He is a reminder that one child’s life, full of joy, wonder, and love, can inspire change that saves others. He may no longer walk beside us, but his light guides every wave we cross and every child we protect.
